The "315 Happy Reunion Dinner" had drawn to a conclusion at the Spring Garden Restaurant, S'pore on 15th Mar 2014. On recalling the event, there were 109 students, young & old attended this auspicious occasion. Some were from S'pore, Sarawak, Sabah, JB, KL & as far up as USA. 2 honourable reporters from " Lian He Zao Bao " were cordially invited. Many students expressed with joy yet with a little sadness & regret for not seeing one another for so many years, approximately 30 to 50 years! Most were old & grey & beyond recognition. Some have become Granpas & Grandmas. Most were once young & pretty, smart & handsome had turned old & grey. Time & tide waits for no man. Be active gracefully. Joy & warmth filled the evening with sparkled drinks & delicacies. The night was so memorable.
This is Ngee Ann's Big Family, enhanced with loves & affections, so pure & eternal. The occasion was full of laughters & fun. It was an honour to have Mr. Lu Eng Wah / 1963 Chemistry on the stage to entertain us with his award winning performance. He played with his musical instrument, called 葫芦丝 of which he had obtained in grade 8 & awarded by The All S'pore Great Arts Centre on Chinese Orchestral Instrument just last year 2013. He performed 2 pieces music i) There's a beautiful place ii) The crystal clear lake. It is a standing ovation.
There was not a single dull moment with alumni giving speeches, renditions & the most enjoyable Karaoke!
The excitement moment of the event & highlight of the night was giving away the Souvenir Banners to alumni for their good spirits and achivements shown in Ngee Ann's Spirit by our Sabah Advisor Mr. Wong Chow Hin.
The following were recipients of the night: 1) The Sarawak Chinese Kapitan - The honourable Mr Chia Yang Sin / 1963 Business Admin. / It is not easy to obtain the title for the community services as well as speaking for the people. 2) The Musical Achiever Award - Mr Lu Eng Wah / 1963 Chemistry / It is a good spirit for never say old to learn & self upgrading. 3) The Ngee Ann Family Award / Parents & Children are NA graduates, 3 family group winners: - Mr. Chan Kheng Ling ( 1973 ME with 6 family members ) / Mr. Peter Wong ( 1975 EEE with 3 family members ) / Mr Lim Kok Shing (1963 Chinese Study with 3 family members) 4) The Senior & Editor-In- Chief Award - Mr. Yeo Chin Hoo / 1963 Accountancy / The speaker for the seniors. 5) The Ngee Ann Spirit Award / Contribution Of Bird Photography Book to raise fund of RM 2,670 for NAAKL - Mr Foo Sang Suan / 1972 ME. 6) The Best Academic Award go to Ms Ling Sze Ling / 2009 ECE / For her good achievement & now is pursuing her Ph D in EEE in NTU.
